PROGRAM: Motel conversion into affordable housing via Project Homekey
INNSBRUCK LODGE
As part of Project Homekey, this conversion of a motel to housing with supportive services will be the first affordable housing project in more than a decade in the Town of Mammoth Lakes, California. The project includes the conversion of one of the units into a fully accessible unit as well as upgrades to the other existing rooms for a more contemporary and welcoming feel. The program includes 16 units, ski lockers, an accessible lobby with wheelchair platform, laundry room and a new accessible parking lot.
In addition to maintaining the old motel's cozy mountain character, the project also provides substantial improvements to ensure that the building can be transformed into a distinctive residential building incorporating the existing stunning double-height lobby that will now be accessible for people with reduced mobility. Accessibility limitations were resolved by providing an accessible unit with private laundry on the 2-leveled ground floor. In order to provide an accessible path of travel to the unit from the exterior, a wheelchair platform has been projected on the lobby area.
