Long An Senior Living
The first of its kind in Vietnam, BDG was engaged by a prominent developer to create a luxury, independent living community for seniors, providing a western model of amenitized living while honoring the culture and context of this Southeast Asian location. Situated on the Vàm Cỏ Đông River, BDG programmed and designed a community that features bungalows, duplexes and condominiums for a variety of lifestyles and budgets. A restaurant, spa, wellness center, chapel, teahouse, athletic courts, walking trails, private docks, lush landscaping and other amenities fill the masterplan. The buildings are designed to be sustainable, using local materials that reflect the tropical climate and create a strong sense of place and identity for this uniquely, single-generational living concept.
The master plan introduces the concept of weaving the circulation of the automobile and the pedestrian paths. This allows for the creation of interesting community spaces in the interior of the development, where gardens, physical activity and meeting places can exist. Individual sections of the island are created with different organizational principals and unique community type spaces. They are scattered throughout the island, giving the residents a significant variety of experiences as they meander through to visit other community areas and to join in other activities.
This plan introduces the bungalow, or townhouse, concept where multiple single-family homes are clustered on one parcel for greater density. These units will allow for a strong sense of belonging and community that is essential to the success of the development. The larger density condominiums and amenity spaces are grouped at the ends of the island, to take advantage of the views, waterways and the increased proximity with other islands.
